Why a rug shop, not a carpet truck
It comes up in nearly every Cooper City home we visit. The tile is already booked for a cleaning, and the hand-knotted rug anchoring the family room feels like it could just ride along on the same appointment.
The trouble is that a stretched-down carpet and a free-standing rug are built for opposite treatment. Carpet is fixed to the floor and meant to be scrubbed where it lies. Hand-knotted wool, silk & more
Through a South Florida summer the same damp air works on wool, silk and synthetic in completely different ways — so we read each rug before choosing a method. Whatever the type, it travels the same in-plant path: measured, checked for pH and colorfastness, deep-dusted, washed, then speed-dried.
A hand-knotted Oriental is a textile, not carpet. It earns a full bath in the plant — never a hot wand dragged over it out on the lanai.

What genuinely moves the price is the tape-measured size, the fiber and how it was knotted, whether the dyes hold, how deep the soil runs, any pet contamination, and whether the fringe or side cords need repair.
So we look first, then quote — once, before we start.

Usually, yes. Urine dries into alkaline salts buried deep in the foundation, and blotting the surface never reaches them — so we submerge the whole rug and flush those salts out. We repair, and it is all done by hand at our own shop — never shipped out. That runs from fringe repair and replacement through side and edge overcasting, hole repair and reweaving, moth damage, dry rot, resizing and full restoration. If a repair would cost more than the rug is worth, we tell you plainly instead of selling it.
Most rugs are home in about a week. The wash is followed by controlled speed-drying in a temperature and humidity managed room, which is what keeps one color from creeping into the next — so we don’t rush it.
